Caught up in the racket sport phenomenon? Whether it’s tennis, squash, pickleball, badminton, racquetball, or the newest sensation, padel, there’s a game for everyone.

Racket sports have surged in popularity, with tennis played by 87 million players globally, followed closely by pickleball with 48 million enthusiasts. Padel, a blend of tennis and squash with its own professional league, has also made its mark, captivating 25 million players worldwide.

All these sports – especially pickleball – have been rapidly gaining popularity since the pandemic, offering a perfect combination of outdoor activity and social interaction.

Studies have shown that playing racket sports decreased heart disease risk by 27% and all causes of death by 16% in older adults. Another study also showed decreases in all cause and cardiovascular deaths in 80,306 adults ages 30 to 98 years. This specialized 6-week program will help you not only prevent injuries by properly conditioning your body, joints and connective tissue, but also help you to ace your game by building strong, flexible muscles, liberating your joints, and aligning your structural posture through each scientifically designed workout!

Foot exercises strengthen ankles, reducing the risk of sprains and tendon issues. Shoulder routines improve stability and mobility, minimizing the likelihood of rotator cuff injuries. And targeted movements for the arms and knees help maintain joint strength and alignment, preventing common ailments like tennis elbow and knee pain.

Improve Your Agility & Your Brain

Agility is the secret weapon of every successful racket sport player. The ability to move quickly in multiple directions with precision and control can make all the difference between a winning shot and a missed opportunity. Through dynamic, multi-directional movements and emphasis on correct alignment, you’ll develop the reflexes and coordination needed to outmaneuver your opponents on the court.

Another bonus point: improving brain functioning! Learning complex movements that require multiple directions, strength, flexibility and sustaining mental engagement is exactly what Essentrics trains us for. Enhanced proprioception — the body’s awareness of its position in space — leads to more precise, efficient strokes and serves, footwork, as well as improved balance and stability on the court!

PROGRAM DETAILS

We will begin with a 60-minute introductory session where I will take you through a 30-minute in-person essentrics workout to get to know your body, and then pick your brain for another 30 minutes to understand your current objectives/limitations on the court, and clarify the outcomes of what you’d like to achieve together!

I will then craft a 6-week customized Essentrics program for you where we will meet once or twice per week over a series of six consecutive weeks (class frequency will depend on your personal schedule, and what I feel best suits your objectives).

Our class sessions will each be 60 minutes in length, and will be held in-person at your home/gym/nearest outdoor space (I encourage being in nature as much as possible!) in Toronto or the GTA.

Being a sports enthusiast, you know that consistency is key! And showing up with discipline for your workouts only contributes to enhancing your overall performance, and having the greatest opportunity to experience the results you seek on and off the court.

PRICING:

A $120 deposit is required to secure your 60-minute introductory session, which will then be applied towards your full program fee once we determine which program option will serve you and your needs best:

6-Weeks @ One Session Per Week
($660 tax incl.)

6-Weeks @ Two Sessions Per Week
($1200 tax incl.)

Payment plan is available for program option 2.

The details above are specific to one-on-one training, however I also facilitate group training at a separate rate, privately and within public and private sports clubs.
